Local Area Information:
At the junctions of Highways 76 and 13, the city of Branson West is rapidly developing as the economic center of Stone County. Careful planning and improvements to the infrastructure of the city have created opportunity for growth and expansion allowing the tourism industry as well as the service and other industries to prosper. However the city has always been at an important crossroads and instrumental in the economic growth of the region. The earliest records of European settlers in the area report that near the intersection described above, brothers named Yocum had settled. These brothers gave birth to a legend, of the lost Silver mine and the now famous Yocum Silver Dollar.
