The Hollister Public School District is divided into three schools situated on one campus. The Hollister Elementary School houses students in kindergarten through grade five. The Jr. High School contains grades six through eight while the High School contains grades nine through 12. There are a total of 1232 students.
Local Area Information:
First homesteaded in approximately 1867 Hollister is noted for bringing to Taney County the first major influx of tourism. It had the first iron bridge in Taney County which still spans Turkey Creek, the first paved street, electric lights, movie house, the first registered pharmacist and modern steam heated hotel. What is now known as Historic Downing Street was the first major development with its row of quaint Elizabethan structures. Hollister was placed on the National Register of Historical sites in 1978.
